About Us
West Texas Oil Reports was founded in 1948 by petroleum engineer, Lamar Eschberger. Lamar was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He was attending The University of Texas when WWII broke out. He joined the Army Air Corp, attended flight school, became a Captain, and piloted B24 Liberators. During the war, he trained at Midland Air Field where he met Nell Ruth Bedford, whom he then married. After being shot down over Romania, taking he and his crew into Russia (missing in action for a month); he was honorable discharged. He then returned to the University of Texas and graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He took a job with Gulf Oil Corporation followed by a job with the Railroad Commission of Texas as a district engineer. Appreciating the importance of regulation in the industry, he teamed up with a fellow engineer who enjoyed the paper and compliance side of engineering while Lamar "Esch" handled the drilling, completion and production side of engineering and formed what was then West Texas Oil Reports and Engineering Services. Esch bought out his partner and operated the company until his death in 1999. His daughter, Ann Ritchie, who began working for West Texas Oil Reports after graduating from college in 1975, continues to own and operate the regulatory consulting firm today. Ann has now teamed up with her daughter, Abby Jennings, of Houston, in order to expand their service base throughout Texas.
Currently, West Texas Oil Reports is made up of a team of 8 employees with a combined 75 years of experience dealing with regulatory filings in Texas and New Mexico.
We offer a wide range of services to keep your company compliant with operator requirements set forth by the Texas Railroad Commission, Groundwater Advisory Unit and Texas Comptroller's Office. Like the Railroad Commission, it is important to us that we, as oil and gas professionals, remain good stewards of our natural resources.
